We're Moving

So... It turns out that there is another website out there called Drink Pittsburgh. It seems to be nice enough site, all about rating your neighborhood bars, a noble goal to be sure. So to avoid confusion and issues later on we're packing up the booze and moving the bar over to the new site www.DrinksBurgh.blogspot.com. Please update your favorites, bookmarks, etc to go to the new site, though I will continue to post a note over here for a while that the new post is up.

Whiskey Rebel

You may not know it to look at him, but Eric Meyer is leading a rebellion in Pittsburgh.  Taking his inspiration from the Whiskey Rebellion of the 18th century Eric and Wigle Whiskey are starting production soon in the Strip district.  Look for their fine spirits starting soon, the Grand Opening will be Nov 13.

Paging Dr. Bamboo...

Dr. Bamboo, (Craig Mrusek), runs the blog of the same name from his home in tropical Pittsburgh, PA.   After being inspired by a Mr. Boston Cocktail guide and Kaiser Penguin the good doctor has established himself as a force in the online cocktail scene. He was named one of “The 25 Most influential Online Cocktail Pioneers,” in Vintage Spirits & Forgotten Cocktails.

Nunkin TIme

Went down to the Strip District, which is deceptively named in that the amount of Burlesque shows is shockingly small. To make up for this lack of tassels I stopped in at the Pittsburgh Public Market and picked up a Growler of Nunkin Ale from East End Brewing Co.

The Plan

So here is The Plan for this blog. Pittsburgh has a number of interesting personalities and projects going on relating to drinks. Whether that is the increasing number of micro-breweries or the innovative bartenders creating (or rediscovering) cocktails there is a lot happening.   This blog is to show the people behind the drinks.  I'm looking to get started with it soon and will update as i can hopefully once a week when I get churning, but once a month at least.
